Happy Caturday from The Catnip Life! The above photo captures what "The Catnip Life" means to me. Perfect relaxation and peace. These two boys are Mater and Wallace and they feature in one of this week's Medium posts. Link below. Fleas! Don't you hate them? I don't know about where you are, but here in Texas the temperatures are warming up rapidly and there has been a lot of rain. And what do those two things together mean for a cat household? Fleas! And lots of them. It never fails for fleas to be a problem once the weather warms up. Even if your cats are indoor only, they will find a way inside. If you also have these issues and find that flea preventatives can be very pricey to purchase, here's my tip for saving money. I buy at one of these two places online. They are both based in Australia. The products are exactly the same as name brand products available locally but at a lower price and I can get the ones that include heartworm prevention without a prescription. I've been purchasing from these two online vendors for several years and have never had a bad experience with either of them. Pets Megastore https://www.pets-megastore.com.au/cats-and-kittens/flea-and-tick-control Pet Shed I like to use the generic version of Revolution for my household because it prevents fleas but also will treat and prevent ear mites, some of the most common intestinal worms and the dreaded heartworms. In my area heartworms can be a problem even for cats, although dogs are the ones who are most vulnerable to these parasites. If you have any tips to share about where you get your flea preventatives and what type you use, reply back to this email and I will compile them for a future article. |
My most recent cat postsIf you aren't able to access any of my Medium posts because you don't have a paid membership, reply back to this email and I will send you a friend link for free access to each story. A recent non-cat post That's it for this week's edition of The Catnip Life. Next week I'll be premiering my new Medium publication of the same name and discussing ways to encourage your cats to drink plenty of water to help ward off kidney disease. If there are any particular types of content or topics you would love to see covered, you can reply back to let me know. |

The Catnip Life Newsletter June 9, 2023 - Awesome Cat Water Fountain on Amazon! Misty helping herself to my water glass It can never be overemphasized how important it is that your cats take in a lot of water to help keep their kidneys healthy. They tend to not drink enough on their own, so encouraging higher intake any way you can is a good habit to get into. Some cats love drinking from a running faucet, and other cats like my Misty like to drink from their human's cup with their paws. Of...
The Catnip Life Newsletter June 3, 2023 - The Vet Visit Edition Lucky, post-recovery from a scary vet visit. Lucky, the feral kitten I found in my yard last fall, had a date with the vet for his neuter surgery a couple of weeks ago. It did not go well. Poor guy was terrified. His feral nature re-emerged when his mum had to leave him in the hands of people he didn't know, even though they were very nice people. I wrote all about it in a Medium article, link at the end, but I'd like to list a...
